These tiles are through-bodied porcelain, meaning the colour and pattern run consistently through the entire thickness of the tile rather than sitting as a surface glaze. This makes them exceptionally resistant to wear, chipping, and heavy foot traffic — even as the surface wears over decades of use, the tile's appearance stays consistent, since there's no glaze layer to wear through.
The unglazed, naturally textured finish provides reliable underfoot grip in wet conditions, and many of our anti-slip ranges come with a slip rating certificate, tested to the AS 4586 standard, giving specifiers and builders documented proof of compliance for commercial projects.

What is a slip rating certificate and why does it matter?

 

A slip rating certificate confirms a tile has been independently tested for slip resistance under the AS 4586 standard — commonly required for commercial and public wet-area installations to meet safety compliance.

 

Wet Pendulum Test (P Ratings)


This is the most common test in Australia, simulating a shoe sole on a wet floor, scaled from P0 (highest slip risk) to P5 (very low slip risk). [1, 2, 3]
P0 / P1: Very high slip risk; restricted to dry indoor areas only.
P2 / P3: Moderate slip risk; suitable for general indoor spaces, residential rooms, and internal domestic stairs.
P4 / P5: Low to very low slip risk; required for external ramps, commercial kitchens, and swimming pool surrounds

What does "through-bodied porcelain" mean?
