For new builds, larger renovations, or anywhere a screed layer is already being poured, in-screed heating cable is often the more efficient choice over an electric mat. Rather than sitting as a thin element directly under the tile, the heating cable is embedded within the screed itself — the screed is poured over the cable, and your chosen floor finish is laid on top once it's cured.

This approach suits open-plan living areas, large bathrooms, and whole-floor heating projects particularly well, since the thermal mass of the screed helps distribute and retain heat evenly across a bigger space.
